About the Store
I have always had a love for children’s clothing, and indulged in the cutest options for my own son and daughter, always looking to mix a classic aesthetic with durability and comfort. In 2014, my husband and I moved to Louisville – where generations of our family have raised their children – and we have been lucky to build relationships with so many families here in the area.
Realizing a market gap in Louisville for curated looks for kids, and wanting a career change post-covid, I followed my dream of opening a boutique children’s store. Families are looking for a friendly and inviting environment to make shopping and special-occasion prep fun and easy, and that value is at the heart of what we deliver at The Rocking Horse every day.
It has been very rewarding for me to introduce new brands to the Louisville community – many of these brands are women-owned or Kentucky-based. Partnering with other local small businesses – like photographers, monogrammers and neighboring stores – allows me to promote the shop-local, small-business approach that I know will help our community thrive. I am also so grateful to connect with other small business owners both locally and across the country who I learn from every day.

About Brie
Brie is a Cincinnati native who has always had an innate sense of style and an acumen for retail. A graduate of Miami University and a collegiate tennis player, Brie started her career in Chicago, working in recruiting and human resources for two large, public corporations including big-four accounting firm Deloitte. While in Chicago, Brie reveled in the restaurant and fashion scene, and started dating now husband, Grant.
Brie followed her passion to open a children’s retail boutique, initially launching a pop-up in partnership with a local fashion and home decor shop. Forming meaningful relationships with many clients, Brie knew that establishing a full storefront in the heart of St. Matthews was the next step.
Throughout her career in HR, Brie was passionate about connecting with people to “find the right fit” for candidates professionally. It is with that same drive that she creates deep connections to help families and children find the “right fit” at The Rocking Horse from their variety of brands, sizing, style and price point.
